Your Comfort Comes First

At Mountcastle Medical Spa & Laser Center, patient comfort is a top priority. For many aesthetic treatments, we recommend a prescription-strength compounded topical numbing cream to help minimize discomfort and allow for a smoother, more comfortable treatment experience.
Topical numbing cream works by temporarily blocking nerve signals in the skin, reducing sensitivity in the treatment area. When used correctly, it can significantly improve comfort without affecting your results.

What Is in Topical Numbing Cream?
Most compounded numbing creams contain a combination of local anesthetics such as lidocaine, tetracaine, or benzocaine. These ingredients work together to numb the surface layers of the skin.
For general medical information about lidocaine, you may visit:

Who Should NOT Use Numbing Cream
Do not apply numbing cream if any of the following apply:
- Broken, irritated, infected, or sunburned skin
- Open wounds, rashes, or sores
- Mucous membranes (inside the mouth, nose, or eyes)
- Known allergy to lidocaine, benzocaine, tetracaine, or related anesthetics
If you are unsure whether numbing cream is safe for you, please contact our office before your appointment.
How Much Numbing Cream Should I Apply?
Apply a thin, even layer to fully cover the treatment area. Do not apply a thick paste. Using more cream does not improve numbing and may increase the risk of side effects.
Approximate guidelines (measured in grams):
- Full face: 2–3 grams
- Cheeks only: 1–1.5 grams
- Lips: 0.25–0.5 grams
- Under eyes: 0.5 grams
- Neck: 2 grams
If you are unsure how much to apply, please call or text our office for guidance.
